Bridging Biology and Biomaterials: Strategies for Optimizing Combinations for Predictable Implant Site Regeneration
Thursday, November 27, 2025
8:00PM-9:30PM EST
This lecture offers overview of post-extraction implant site management, with a focus on the evidence-based selection and clinical application of biomaterials to achieve optimal regenerative outcomes.
With the wide range of natural and synthetic grafting materials available for periodontal and implant therapy, clinicians often face challenges in choosing the most appropriate options for each case.
Led by a clinician-scientist specializing in periodontics and biomaterials, this lecture will present a scientific and clinical rationale for selecting bone graft materials and barrier membranes for single-implant site preparation following tooth extraction. Participants will gain an understanding of the biological principles underlying bone regeneration, the mechanisms that influence biomaterial performance, implant integration and strategies for optimizing material combinations to enhance predictability.
Attendees will learn to individualize their approach to implant site development, applying evidence-based principles to achieve predictable, patient-centered outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the biological principles and healing processes involved in post-extraction implant site regeneration.
- Differentiate between various natural and synthetic biomaterials used for bone grafting and membrane applications in implant therapy.
- Evaluate the evidence supporting biomaterial selection for site-specific clinical scenarios in single-implant site preparation.
- Apply evidence-based strategies for combining graft materials and membranes to enhance bone and soft tissue outcomes.
- Understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that influence bone regeneration and implant osseointegration.
- Develop a patient-centered, individualized approach to implant site management for predictable and long-term clinical success.

Why see a Periodontist?

The goal of periodontal therapy is to allow you to keep your teeth and your smile all your life.
More specifically, it allows to stop the progression of gum disease, to strengthen your gums and to replace if necessary missing teeth with implants.
In most cases, with appropriate treatments and your cooperation, it is possible to keep your teeth for life.
